Boys, Toys, and Some Baking Too

Jan 3 - 11, 2025

Time spent with Arlo, Harold's brother, and Arlo's wife, Linda, is always unique. You never know what those two brothers are cooking up next. This week, it even included some actual baking. Harold has always loved sourdough bread, and Linda is a far better cook and baker than I am.

Out in the garage, the two brothers spent time with Arlo's new "spirograph." It takes an engineer! Then it was 3-D printing up a couple of minor parts for our RV shower. Finally, it was engraving water bottles on yet another new toy.

Even so, not all the fun was intellectual. The final night, our extra night, the two brothers took in a monster truck rally. Harold said he'd hit the redneck trifecta within the past twelve months  - car launch, demolition derby, and now the monster trucks.

Dinner at the Diner

Albuquerque has its share of Route 66 nostalgia, including several well-known diners. We opted for the 66 Diner one evening, enticed by its reputation for milkshakes and collection of over 1400 PEZ dispensers. We ate dinner first and then gourged on dessert. We were stuffed! Should we ever go back, we'd go just for the milkshakes.

Colorado Christmas

December 13 - 28, 2024

Originally, we had planned to spend Christmas in Virginia. After my radiation treatments ran into December and an overnight stop for RV brake maintenance, we opted to spend Christmas in Colorado. I have a sister in Colorado Springs, and Harold has a sister in Aurora. So we still got to spend Christmas with family.  Yeah!
