A Purse Museum

January 15, 2025

Well, how convenient is this? There is a purse museum (and shop) in Little Rock, AR. With my blue purse now sporting splotches of red spray paint, I am on the hunt. Who knew that there were two purse museums in the world? One of them, Esse Purse Museum, was within a long walking distance from our urban campsite at Downtown Riverside RV Park in North Little Rock. While I didn't find a replacement purse at the museum store, I did find the collection interesting. I think I liked the 1920's purses best.

Cadillacs and Slug Bugs

Jan 12, 2025

Amarillo is framed by cars buried in the dirt. On the east side, you have Slug Bug Ranch, part of the Big Texan enterprises and conveniently outside our Big Texan RV Park. Add in a few big horn limos with the slug bugs, and all you need is the spray paint.

On the west side of town, you have Cadillac Ranch. Cadillac Ranch is considered one of the original roadside art projects. We took a few photos, but left stickers instead of adding to the paint. On our way out, we picked up a number of empty spray cans. Regrettably, one of the cans wasn't quite empty, and I am now on the hunt for a new purse!

Time to go shopping...

Big Texan

Jan 11, 2025

We stopped for two nights in Amarillo. We spotted enough stuff to do that we'll probably stop for a week sometime. We'd like to get to Palo Duro Canyon, a couple of museums, and the Flint Quarries National Monument. If we time it right, we could probably hit a rodeo week too.

We stayed at the Big Texan RV Ranch which, oh so conveniently, offers shuttle service to Big Texan Steak Ranch. Home of the 72 oz steak challenge, we opted for regular meals. Even so, the regular meals were a challenge to complete. In 2022, the restaurant purchased over 600,000 pounds of beef. That's a lot of beef!

Wind, Sand, and Snow

Jan 3 - 11, 2025

We were in Albuquerque for eight days. We had planned only a week, but a phone call to Oklahoma City and Amarillo quickly persuaded us to stay an extra day. Oklahoma City had five inches of snow. Amarillo had about the same, and I-40 between Albuquerque and Amarillo was closed in one direction. Yeah, we can stay an extra day.

Beautiful weather heading to Albuquerque

Wind and sand storm

Now you see the Sandia Mountains
