Back to Virginia

November 8 - December 9, 2025

We spent a month in the Harrisonburg area, spending a lot of time with family. We celebrated birthdays and enjoyed Thanksgiving feasts.

Thanksgiving was one of those years with memorable moments. It started with me noting the high wind advisory that morning and wondering if there was a burn ban in effect. Hmm, we were counting on the use of the outdoor gazebo and firepit at the cabin.

Then when we got to the cabin, we couldn't get the water pump to work. Eventually it was determined that there was a bad valve. What that meant was no running water! So, we set up the outhouse with a little electric heater and some hand sanitizer. Someone had brought a few gallons of water for pump priming that we used to heat water on the stove for minor dishwashing. Thankfully, the wood stove was cranking out the heat, maybe a little too much heat with 20 plus people.

Good to be with family, and family who takes things in stride!
