Cathedral Spires

On the Needles Highway there's a small parking area at the trailhead for Cathedral Spires. The limited parking area is on a hairpin turn, and people park whereever they can, making it even tighter. The Cathedral Spires are popular with climbers and hikers and stays crowded all summer.

We had planned on hiking the Prairie Trail on the wildlife loop. According to the write up, late spring and early summer is when all the wildflowers are in bloom. However, on our way there, we actually found a real parking spot at Cathedral Spires. We quickly changed our plans and opted for the Cathedral Spires Trail.

It is a beautiful area. Some of the rock scrambling made us glad we were on the trail before the summer heat kicked in. We did see some climbers in the area too, both four-legged and two-legged. : )
