North from Two Harbors and south of Silver Bay is Split Rock State Park. We opted against paying extra to walk the lighthouse grounds and climb the tower. Instead we walked around the beach at the picnic area and hiked a trail or two looking for the best angle to photograph the lighthouse.

Judging by the cars in the parking lot,
Tettegouche State Park is every bit as popular as Gooseberry. We did not do this park justice. We did manage to get a hike to Cascade Falls one afternoon after the rain let up.

On a side note, Minnesota offers free admission to its state parks and recreation areas for veterans with a service-related disability who have a federal government access pass. We certainly appreciated and took advantage of the benefit to visit several of the state parks.
